The Cyclone Recovery Unit (CRU) is hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet (DPMC).
The approach to the ongoing recovery from the flooding, and Cyclones Hale and Gabrielle will focus on being locally led and centrally supported. The CRU has been established to support the Chief Executive to lead and coordinate the Government's recovery work programme, provide strategic policy and legal advice, support locally led engagement with communities, iwi, business, local government, regional groups and others, coordinate planning and reporting, provide advice on system risk and assurance, ensure alignment with wider policy decisions on long-term resilience, climate change and managed retreat, and provide the secretariat function for the Cyclone Recovery Taskforce.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Principal Advisor is responsible for providing leadership to regional engagement with Iwi and Māori groups.
The role works in co-ordination with the Manager Engagement, Principal Advisor and regional liaison Advisor's engaging with business, local government and NGO's to create effective partnerships, pathways and relationships with Iwi and Māori groups in the cyclone recovery work programme.

Ko wai koe | About you
- Significant experience working and engaging with iwi and Māori community representatives at a range of levels.
- Experience engaging with iwi, Māori, Pacific, diverse ethnicity groups and disabled communities preferred.
- Senior experience delivering communications and engagement strategies.
- Senior experience working at the political interface, with ministerial offices.
- Sound knowledge of the machinery of government

To be successful in the role we are looking for hands-on, self-starters, agile and responsive to changing conditions, collaborative in style and natural team players.

Salary range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000 p/a including Kiwi Saver contributions.
The CRU is based in Wellington and the team will operate from offices centrally located.
All roles are flexible by default and a positive work life balance is encouraged
