**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is developing Industry Transformation Plans (ITPs), a programme of work for delivering the Industry Strategy and contribute to the vision in the Government’s Economic Plan of a more productive, sustainable and inclusive economy.

The Enabling Māori Framework (EMF) and the Māori Innovation Fund (MIF) are two mechanisms to support projects and initiatives that align to the goals of He Kai Kei Aku Ringa and to the objectives and priorities of the ITPs. The EMF and MIF funds are administered by Te Kupenga within Te Waka Pūtahitanga rōpū the Economic Strategy Branch of MBIE.

Working closely with the General Manager Māori, Investments and Operations Manager and wider team, the Principal Advisor - Māori Economic Investments will provide specialist te ao advice and business / operational support on various networks to coordinate the funding processes, related contract administration, stakeholder engagement, relationships and contract for services management for Te Kupenga, providing leadership to uplift te ao investment capability across the group including funding processes and contributing to the commissioning of new initiatives.

Responsible for investments process design and implementation, data and evidence collation, process and funds improvements, investment reporting, partnerships relationship management, market intelligence and scanning about the Māori Economy.

The Principal Advisor 18 months fixed term role will make a valuable contribution to help maximise investment operations with and for Māori to meet their paeora, economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspirations. The role will report to the Investments and Operations Manager.

Te Kupenga Māori Economic Development Unit branch sits within Te Waka Pūtahitanga the Strategic Programs and Policy Group within MBIE. Te Kupenga works across all MBIE groups, across government agencies, with te tiriti partners and Māori hapori communities. It also produces high-quality advice to Ministers and other agencies and oversees and administers investment funds to ensure Māori Economic prosperity goals are supported.

- Skills and Experience Required

**We are keen to hear from you if you have**:

- High level of experience in te ao and reo Māori, a willingness to share knowledge and actively support.
- Broad Māori networks.
- A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, or extensive and comparable relevant experience.
- Excellent relationship management and outstanding communication skills
- A proven track record of experience in investments system and process design
- 3 - 5 years grants funding and contracting experience.
- An understanding of Cabinet processes and machinery of Government is anticipated
