About the role
Māori & Community Prevention Partnerships, part of Iwi & Community and based at Police National Headquarters is seeking a person experienced in alcohol harm prevention to join our Community Prevention Partnerships team as the Manager - Alcohol Harm Prevention. The primary focus of this role is to enable our frontline and alcohol harm prevention staff and partners to deliver Our Business and ensure communities feel safe and are safe.

Alcohol is a significant driver of demand in communities across the motu and together, with our partners, we are looking at opportunities to use our combined resources to prevent crime and harm in all communities.

As the Manager - Alcohol Harm Prevention you will take a leadership role within Police, helping, guiding, and empowering our alcohol harm prevention staff and their partners to make New Zealand’s diverse communities a safer place to live, work and study.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Contribute to the development of Iwi & Community strategies and initiatives that meet the needs of Māori, Pacific, ethnic and other communities.
- Work with districts to help their alcohol harm prevention staff build effective local community partnerships and get buy-in to nationally led alcohol harm prevention policing initiatives.
- To provide specialist input and advice on alcohol harm issues to Iwi and Community Prevention Partnerships managers, including the Executive when required.
- To provide input, or lead, the development, maintenance and delivery of alcohol harm prevention strategies, tactics, education and training.
- Contribute to and help co-ordinate alcohol harm prevention research and evaluation and support recommendations based on the outcomes of such research and evaluation.

About you
You’ll be an experienced and skilled communicator, able to engage with a wide range of audiences and adapt your message appropriately. You’ll be confident, interested in learning, and developing yourself and others. You’ll have experience working independently and as part of a team, and in a range of environments including in leadership roles (whether formal or otherwise). You’ll be able to take ideas from conception to execution by identifying and overcoming barriers while keeping the end goal in mind.
For Police constabulary applicants, CPK to Senior Sergeant level is desired, but not essential. If successful, CPK will be required to be completed within 12 months of taking up the role, and the CEP leadership program commenced.

This role is set at Leader/Manager level, this means your key purpose is “to lead tactics for Our Business and enable people to deliver them”.
