The Partnership Manager position has been established to provide line management to advisors and support them to deliver the strategic engagement and partnership priorities for firearms, non-firearms groups, and communities.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Providing professional guidance to influence the delivery of firearms related regulatory services, this role combines prevention, education, and community engagement elements. The overarching intent is to make it straightforward for firearms licence applicants and existing firearms licence holders to understand what they need to do in order to comply with the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.

Another key deliverable of this position is to ensure the reduction of regulatory failures, non-compliance and the reducing of offending and victimisation.

Supporting the set-up of fit purpose enabling services, you will be accountable for all services provided being timely, responsive, culturally appropriate, and effective.

Fostering a positive view of Police and Arms Safety and Control within the community, you will work collaboratively with other specialist policing functions, government agencies, NGO’s, partners, and community groups. Within this framework, emphasis will be on activities which focus on reducing regulatory breaches, criminal offending and victimisation in a way that produces positive immediate and longer-term results. Developing long term productive relationships with key community stakeholders, you will develop sound community networks to proactively identify and resolve issues for vulnerable people. An integral member of the Arms Safety and Control leadership team, you will be responsible for the integration of the Turning of the Tide (T4) priorities and deliverables into operational delivery and have a strong awareness of the elements of the firearms licence holder experience and the ways in which policy and delivery can positively affect them.

Strong ability to operate effectively in a Māori cultural setting and proven understanding of and
commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

**Takohanga Matua | Key Accountabilities**:

- Effectively articulates Police and Arms Safety and Control strategies and priorities for reducing regulatory breaches, offending and victimisation to communities in a way that is understood and turned into everyday actions by all workgroups and attracts and mobilises support from stakeholders.
- Are integral members of the Arms Safety and Control leadership and shape priorities and responses.
- Responsible for the integration of the Turning of the Tide (T4) priorities and deliverables into operational delivery and strategic planning.
- Develops and implements a local T4 action plan in partnership with area of responsibility community stakeholder groups for delivering on Police and Arms Safety and Control strategies and deliverables and the priorities identified.
- Is committed to delivering Police and Arms Safety and Control strategies and objectives through everyday operational decisions and priorities.
- Provides the Arms Safety and Control leadership with advice on specific issues which may impact on Police, Arms Safety and Control and community relationships, safety, strategies and operations, and the achievement of sustainable reductions in regulatory breaches, offending and victimisation.

Qualifications / Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred, however may be offset by comparable and extensive skills knowledge and experience in senior level role

- Proven experience in the development and implementation of engagement strategies, plans and programme management.
- Experience co-designing and delivering innovative programmes and interventions with diverse communities and groups and identifying valuable policy, research and implementation insights.
