You'll be part of the Organisational Strategy and Performance Branch of Te Tari Taiwhenua (Internal Affairs); a small branch with a big job. We provide direction, oversight, and leadership across the Department on strategic planning and performance, legal services and governance, risk and assurance matters.
Along with the governance manager you'll be one of two senior advisors playing a key role in providing stewardship and support of the internal governance system. The team is operating well, delivering a high-quality work programme and providing advisory services, and we are looking for someone who can help us improve our effectiveness even further.
The role involves a variety of advisory and support functions, including working with Chairs and Deputy Chairs (tiers 2 and 3) to develop committee work programmes, compiling agendas, minuting meetings, and engaging across the organisation in support of our governance committees. It also supports the continuous improvement of the overall system, identifying, recommending and implementing enhancements.

**To be successful in this role, you will**:

- Have a high standard of written work and an eye for detail
- Exercise sound judgement and tact in engaging with a range of stakeholders including the Department's senior leaders
- Have experience building and maintaining strong and effective working relationships
- Be comfortable and enjoy juggling competing deadlines and priorities
- Be a team player and enjoy collaborating with others to deliver results

Prior experience in providing governance support to committees or teams is ideal, but not essential. A can-do attitude, being able to join the dots with a good dose of common sense are key. The role could suit an experienced EA looking for a change of focus and flexibility or a savvy project advisor looking to branch out.
