At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group and team
We are seeking a Senior Advisor to join our Governance team.

The team leads the provision of good governance advice and support, ensuring senior leaders and boards receive insights and strategic advice that enables the Ministry to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes.

The team is part of Corporate Strategy and Performance Hub (CSP Hub), which is a single, centrally led planning, reporting and governance function, focused on providing end-to-end processes with a strong strategy and business improvement focus.

We are seeking a Senior Advisor who can provide technical expertise to help build organisation wide governance capability and drive continuous improvement

This includes:

  • Providing Board Chairs with quality advice that enables effective decision making and board operation, and leading a quality assurance process across papers, agendas and other governance products
  • Contributing to the review and reset of the governance system at enterprise level.

Mōhou ake | About you
About you

You will have:

  • Experience with public sector governance and accountability processes and a tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Excellent relationship skills and the ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and their teams.
  • The ability to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga through good governance practices
  • Strong writing skills, and proven ability to deliver as part of a team.
