**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We are looking for someone who has Lived Experience of Mental Health and Addictions Services and is passionate about building a firm and lasting foundation of lived experience advocacy, consultation and implementation of meaningful change.
- For this fixed term contract we are looking for someone who can collaborate with key people to develop the Lived Experience Workforce and facilitate focus groups and advisory groups to ensure the voice of people engaging with our services are heard. A particular strategic focus this year is on developing pathways of care for Māori, women and LGBTQI communities.
- The core function of this role is to work at individual, team, service and organizational level to ensure that the interests and perspectives of tāngata whaiora are represented and involved in governance, strategy, policy development, service planning and evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

**Mōu | About you**
- You will be able to engage tāngata whaiora to enable consumer led engagement in governance, strategy, policy, service developments, initiatives and delivery.
- Be able to work with line managers and clinical leaders to assist MHAS in providing services that are responsive to the needs of tāngata whaiora.
- Actively promote the ongoing development and utilisation of tāngata whaiora expertise and experiences in MHAS.
- Effectively reflect and communicate the needs, interests and rights of tāngata whaiora by providing or facilitating their perspectives, needs and aspirations into planning, policy, service development, service delivery and evaluation of MHAS.
- Contribute to the Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato’s overarching objective to undertake radical improvement in Māori health outcomes by eliminating health inequities for Māori.
- The minimum required for this role is a diploma in a health, mental health or drug/addiction field **OR** a minimum of 5 years working in a similar position where it is evidenced the equivalent skills and knowledge were acquired and used.
