With our head office based in Christchurch, New Zealand, with depots in Cromwell and Tawa, we’re responsible for constructing and maintaining overhead and underground lines and equipment across these locations. **About the role**

After several internal promotions, we are seeking an experienced High Voltage Testing Technician to join our Equipment Testing Team. This is an interesting and varied role with plenty of learning to keep you interested and engaged. Working collaboratively with the Equipment Testing Coordinator and Equipment Testing Team, the position of HV Equipment Testing Technician is responsible for carrying out the regular testing, calibration and repair of HV equipment for both internal and external customers. This role also has responsibility for testing HV electrical protective and measuring equipment, as well as vehicle electrical testing (Earth bonding and insulated EWPs).
- Carries out testing, calibration, repair, and certification of HV electrical equipment, ensuring all necessary standards and safety practices are adhered to
- Ensures HV equipment is repaired, either by completing repairs or arranging repair by external providers
- Ensures internal & external customer requirements are understood and met, and the customer is kept well informed of job progress
- Ensures relevant data capture systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensures all plant and equipment used for testing and repair has current certification
- Maintains all competencies required to conduct work activities
- Provides assistance to the Calibration and Appliance Testing roles as training and skills allow
- Maintains a safe, efficient and quality work environment when undertaking high voltage testing activities

**Skills /Experience**

**Essential**
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with high voltage equipment Three to six years electrical testing instrument calibration experience, or equivalent
- Experience in electrical equipment testing: e.g. HV PPE, testing equipment, live line protective equipment, vehicles electrical testing, and instrument calibration
- Current and valid drivers’ licence
- Computer and technology literate
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

**Desirable**
- Registered electrician with current practising licence
- Diploma or NZCE Electrical (or equivalent)

**Rate/Hours of Work**
- Base salary from: $85,000-$100,000
- Minimum 40 hours per week

**Pre-Employment Tests | Medical & Ministry of Justice**

Connetics require all successful applicants to complete a pre-employment Ministry of Justice check, a Pre-Employment medical test which includes a Drug and Alcohol test.

Must hold New Zealand citizenship, New Zealand Permanent Residency or a Valid New Zealand Work Permit.
