**THE COMPANY**
The business is structured to undertake work in three different areas:
- Ship repairs
- Heavy steel fabrication and machining
- Industrial site work including boiler manufacture, installation, and servicing,
Lyttelton Engineering Group design and manufacture Maxitherm boilers and pressure vessels, with a leading and comprehensive range from hot water to high pressure steam boilers, combustion equipment and pressure vessels. The company produced its first boiler in 1980 and since then many have been produced for locations throughout the north and south islands of New Zealand, ranging up to 25MW in size and utilising oil, gas/biogas, biofuels, and coal as fuels.
**THE ROLE**
Reporting to the Valve Servicing Workshop Supervisor you will provide technical and organisational support in the day-to-day operations of the valve servicing workshop. You will be responsible for maintaining a consistent and high-quality service to the valve servicing workshop’s internal and external clients.
This is a hands-on role - Servicing of all types of isolation, safety and control valves. Ensuring they are serviced to the requirements of Lyttelton Engineering’s quality management system, New Zealand and International codes and standards as well as the customers’ requirements.
Key activities include:
- Providing technical support and oversight to the Lyttelton Engineering staff assigned to the valve servicing workshop for the routine servicing and testing of valves.
- Ensure all valves are documented & tagged using the LEL standard valve identification system.
- Keep all consumables/parts always replenished to the correct levels.
- Specifying and ordering valve parts as required.
- Acting as a Deputy/2IC for the valve servicing workshop supervisor when he not at the valve servicing workshop.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
We need you to have a strong mechanical mindset, readily able to see and understand what is right or wrong with a valve and why. Key skills and experience include:
- Trade qualified in mechanical fitting or equivalent is preferred.
- Relevant experience in the servicing, repair and testing of all types of isolation and safety valves. Experience in the overhaul and calibration of control valves would be an advantage.
- Good technical knowledge of isolation, safety and control valves.
- Good general IT skills, including ability to use valve testing and reporting software. Proficient in MS Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Lathe and milling machine operating competency would be warmly received.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised and use initiative.
