In this newly created role, we are looking for a part-time Business Support Officer who is eager to make their mark while providing logístical and administrative support to the leadership team that looks after the Chatham Islands. Your skills will contribute to the smooth running of the Chatham Islands operations by supporting the leadership team based in Masterton.
**In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for**:
- supporting the Principal Ranger with work planning
- organising fleet, accommodation and travel itineraries for the seasonal Chatham Islands team
- coordinating logístical support with the Business Support Officer in Chatham Islands
- providing support to the Business Support Manager and the wider team with other business support duties
- utilising your excellent customer service and communication skills to build relationships with distributed teams within the organisation and across the regional office.
This is a permanent, office role based in Masterton, with some flexibility on the 20-hour a week roster.

This is a diverse role where no two days will be the same If you have some the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:
- You will be an organised and motivated individual, with a range of experience in administration.
- Experience in supporting planning and logístical coordination.
- Be able to support a team remotely.
- Experience in procurement systems.
- Able to learn processes and implement systems.
- Fantastic relationship building skills.
- Tech savvy skills, ability to learn new systems and use your initiative and build capability across the team.
- You'll have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and have a passion for conservation outcomes.
- Communication is key You'll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills.
- Great work ethic with a positive attitude and professional approach.
- An ability to multi-task and deal with competing demands while maintaining attention to detail.
**Desirable**:
- An understanding of the work of the Department and passion for conservation.
- Previous experience leading an office is desirable.
- A qualification in business/office administration would be beneficial.

The salary range for this position is $60,314 to $75,603 per annum (pro-rated) with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that overs the whole period of employment.
