Express Operations Lead - Hamilton

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Due to internal promotion, we are on the hunt for a new Operations Lead (internally we call this role a Service Delivery Manager) to join our Hamilton team based in Te Rapa at our Waikato Operations Centre. Reporting through to the National Operations Manager, you'll manage and lead a mixed team of two (2) direct reports and eight (8) contractors.
You'll guide and support the team to be high performing, ensure that operations are optimised to meet our delivery deadlines, service standards and of course customer expectations. You'll achieve this through regular reporting on compliance issues, service delivery performance and financial elements. You'll also ensure our contractors uphold our standards and are complying in accordance with agreements, managing any breeches or issues. You'll also provide leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring to your direct reports.
Part of your remit will see you engaging with customers, ensuring existing relationships are not only maintained, but continue to grow built on and consistency of service levels remain strong, meaning we are the preferred urgent courier provider in the Hamilton region.
This role operates during core business hours, Monday to Friday, however ideally, this role would suit someone who is flexible to work a combination of early mornings and late afternoons as the role requires.

You'll combine this with
- A leadership style that drives a high performing, customer-centric & thriving team culture
- The ability to influence and engage at a variety of levels
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills
- Solid commercial acumen, including budgets, financials and analytical skills
- Being tech savvy with the ability to navigate around a variety of systems and sound Excel knowledge

You'll also be fairly pragmatic and resilient, with good common sense. Your positive attitude will stand you in good stead, along with your willingness to learn and add new strings to your bow.
