**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Whānau Hauora Integrated Response Initiative (WHIRI) is a kaupapa Māori model of care that supports whānau. It involves a collaborative approach that includes hospital services, Iwi, Māori and Pacific providers, community groups and wider primary care.

Your role is a unique opportunity to aid in building trust, improving access to health care and providing substantial health gain for Māori whānau. You will provide specialist nursing care and expertise, and support of other staff, in the management of needs based assessments conducted with patients and their whānau. This programme of work will embrace mātauranga Māori and te ao Māori in order to be effective for our Māori communities and fulfil our Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations. This role works across two different research projects funded by the HRC. One with a focus on supporting Māori in the early cancer pathway (Cancer WHIRI); the other supporting Wāhine Hapū (pregnant Māori women) (Collaboration study).

**Mōu | About you**

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand; inclusive of scope of practice
- A current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
- Significant nursing experience post-registration
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Interest or experience in maternity and/or cancer care coordination
