We are looking for an Environmental Data Specialist to help deliver the core environmental monitoring programmes in Auckland Council’s Environmental Evaluation and Monitoring team. Our team is responsible for monitoring and reporting on Auckland’s environment. We collect, analyse and evaluate a wide range of environmental data across the marine, freshwater, land and air domains. We use the data to provide high-quality evidence and information to decision makers and Aucklanders to assist with policy development, strategy implementation and programme evaluation.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include data management, quality assurance, reporting and provision of data. You will also work with other internal and external data providers and users to ensure data is collected and utilised in an effective manner. You’ll enjoy working as a team and coming up with innovative solutions to the collection of environmental data and management of environmental databases.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

With a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental science field, you have a robust understanding of environmental processes, experience in data management and analysis, with demonstrable statistical knowledge. We will also value your excellent verbal and written communication skills. An understanding of the New Zealand’s regulatory framework and local government processes would be desirable.
