About our group | Mō te roopu

This role includes providing advice and support to applicants and delegated decision makers, and to conduct delegated decision making for the manufacture and import of hazardous substances, the import or release of new organisms; the reassessment of hazardous substances; the import and export of hazardous waste and ozone depleting substances; liaison with a range of stakeholders (including submitters, applicants and other government and international agencies) on statutory decision making.
About the role | Mō te tūnga
The role of the Senior Advisor Environmental Data and Monitoring position is to lead the environmental monitoring function associated with the Chemical Map tool. The EPA’s Chemical Map will improve accessibility and analysis of data on chemicals to provide trends and insights into chemical use, storage and disposal across NZ. A key component will be to develop and supervise a targeted monitoring program to investigate the environmental fate of hazardous chemicals. Furthermore, your role will be to review the data landscape in New Zealand and assess other potential sources of environmental exposure data.

We are looking for someone with a range of skills and experience - if you have some or all of the below, we would love to hear from you.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant area of expertise
- Proven experience in leading or supporting the delivery of an environmental monitoring programme
- Experience leading and managing projects
- a demonstrated ability to positively engage with others on technical matters
- being self-motivated, driven to deliver under pressure, able to manage multiple tasks and set priorities, and achieve quality results in tight deadlines
- have a focus on time management, quality and an eye for detail
- being a great team player who exhibits skills and behaviours which support a positive, collaborative and professional team culture
- excellent communication, relationship building and reporting skills, with a desire to deliver great customer service as part of our role as a proactive regulator

Salary range |
$79,498 - $119,248 per annum (midpoint $99,373)
This is the full salary range. Appointments are made within the range depending on skills and experience.
