SSU is responsible for the cleaning, packing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices for our customers. This includes theatres and, community Health and external customers.
- Key responsibilities of the role:
- Decontamination of reusable medical devices-
- Packing of surgical instruments-
- Sterilisation of instruments-

- Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
- Experience in a Sterilising Unit is preferred but not essentials-
- L3/4 Sterilising Certificate or will work towards gaining-
- Good computer skills-
- Excellent communication skills-

- Sterilising Units are the heart of the hospital; our hands hold the commitment of excellence. We provide sterile equipment for 23 operating theatres plus district nurses and our external customers. We are a great team of 65 staff, who all take the role of Technicians seriously but also know how to laugh. This department decontaminates and disinfects instruments; wraps sets and sterilises instruments for theatres to use, and checks the correct operation of instruments and complicated sets prior to use by surgeons.
