The Director Enhanced Visa Operations (DEVO) in Immigration New Zealand has been tasked with creating a model visa processing office in Christchurch to develop and test new ways of working before rolling in other Immigration New Zealand teams to the new ways of working.

The Senior Communications Advisor will report to the DEVO and is responsible for developing strategic communications, engagement and change communications material and advice in relation to the model immigration office in Christchurch and the Enhanced Visa Operations Programme.

Working closely with members of the Immigration New Zealand Communications and Engagement Team, the Senior Advisor will:

- Lead the development of communications strategies and plans, and work with others to implement those strategies and plans as they relate to the Enhanced Visa Operations programme and change transition.
- Lead in the development of communications material as required, including material and/or key messages for internal audiences, the Public Service Association, external stakeholders and the Minister’s office.
- Work with key stakeholders to plan proactive communications material and develop and deliver responses to queries.

- Communication experience at a senior advisor level, with strong experience planning and delivering internal communications.
- Experience in the development of change communications as it relates to the ADKAR model
- Excellent political and strategic awareness and sensitivity to anticipate areas of potential risk and inform advice
- Proven experience in developing the narrative for a project, programme and/or change initiative
- Understanding of tikanga Māori, te ao Māori, and te reo Māori desirable
