**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**: Looking Ahead, Working Across
The Climate Change Strategy team is looking for an experienced Principal Policy Advisor to work across MBIE and wider agencies leading the climate response of Aotearoa.
We are looking for someone who can provide economic advice and thinking by bringing policy, analytical and strategy skills to New Zealand’s approach to climate mitigation and adaptation.

**You will have the opportunity to**:

- Contribute to the development of strategic policy advice on the Government’s climate change strategy
- Lead MBIE’s contribution to cross-agency policy development of climate change policies
- Build internal and external relationships to explore, test and align policy thinking and deliverables across MBIE’s, and the government’s, climate change work programme
- Provide advice to MBIE senior leaders, ensuring they are well placed to contribute to the strategic leadership of New Zealand’s climate response Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required

To work in this role you'll need to love an intellectual challenge and won't be afraid of ambiguity. We are looking for someone with:

- Experience providing robust policy analysis, advice and intellectual leadership
- The ability to assist and challenge staff across MBIE and wider agencies to think laterally about policy issues and solutions
- Passion and ability to foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, on-going learning and knowledge sharing
- The ability to develop and lead projects
- A commitment to developing the capability and expertise of others through coaching and mentoring
- Strong stakeholder relationship building, influencing and engagement skills to gain the cooperation and commitment of others.
