Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As Investment Advisor with NZ Transport Agency | Waka Kotahi, you will provide advice and support to influence local government transport investment and ensure the achievement of desired multi-modal transport outcomes for New Zealand.You will work closely with local Councils and other key stakeholders and customers to communicate government transport sector objectives and requirements and provide advice in relation to associated priorities. You will also proactively monitor and report on the ongoing delivery of local council approved programmes and related issues. An important part of this role will be to provide clear and consistent advice at various stages of the project/funding approval process. Your exceptional communication skills will be the key to your success, as you provide assurance that investments are value for money and meet NZ Transport Agency | Waka Kotahi's strategic objectives. - Strong collaboration and relationship management skills
- Experience assessing activities to achieve value for money and successful outcomes
- Strong skill working with spreadsheets and working with figures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of asset management principles
- Understanding of Government policy and legislation as it relates to the land transport system
- Awareness of local authority planning for transportation and investment decision making process
- The ability to work strategically within a national and regional context and understand the political and strategic context of strategies
- Strong analytical, interpretation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to negotiate and influence to achieve desired outcomes

**Qualifications**:

- Qualification in strategic planning, road engineering, asset management or a related discipline is desirable
- A current and valid New Zealand driver's licence (or equivalent)

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
