The Business Manager is a new and challenging role, reporting to the Director of the Office of the Chief Justice | Te Tari Toko i te Tumu Whakawā (Te Tari). Te Tari is responsible for providing the full range of business support functions for the independent judicial branch of government.
The Business Manager leads the small Support Services Team that delivers the finance, procurement, administration and people functions for Te Tari.
Working in partnership with the Ministry of Justice, the Business Manager is responsible for business planning and ensuring Te Tari has the systems, information, technology and business operating systems and support needed to enable a high performing and high functioning Office. They will provide expert advice and guidance on relevant business support operational policies and procedures for Te Tari while ensuring appropriate administrative support is in place.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is ready to step up into a management role and deploy their skills in a unique environment where it is possible to innovate and directly influence business processes.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
For example, you may not have strong management experience, but you may have supported a manager in a team leader capacity.
- Management experience in a complex organisations, including:

- Operational management
- Communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues
- Previous experience leading finance and procurement functions in small organisations.
- Proven experience successfully managing a corporate or executive administrative support team (or similar)
- Sound knowledge of public sector systems and process, particularly Treasury and government procurement requirements.
- Previous experience in successfully establishing and embedding organisational systems and processes with a customer centric approach, including building manager capability to understand and effectively manage their budgets, procurement and people needs.
- Relationship management - strong relationship management skills including the ability to develop, motivate and manage effective teams; and the ability to understand the interests and motivations of different stakeholders and to work with them to achieve the outcomes desired, balanced against stakeholder needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills
- Shows curiosity, flexibility and is open to others' ideas and input. Capable of analysing and integrating ideas, giving credit where its due, and creating fit-for-purposes decisions.
- Ability to relate to a wide range of people at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and planning skills.
- Understanding of the courts and familiarity with our constitutional arrangements (desirable)

The Office of the Chief Justice | Te Tari Toko i te Tumu Whakawā (Te Tari), supports the independent judicial arm of government. It supports the Chief Justice, President of the Court of Appeal, and Chief Judge of the High Court, in their leadership and administrative responsibilities.
The Support Services Team provides timely and high-quality administrative support services enabling Te Tari to deliver its work programme and strategic goals supporting the judiciary. The team is also responsible for business planning, reporting, finances, and budgets as well as all administrative support within Te Tari.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $97,208 and $125,683 based on skills and experience.
