The Property and Procurement team have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a Procurement Advisor, based in our Wellington office.
Reporting to the Manager Property & Procurement, the Advisor Procurement is responsible for enabling the Commission to manage service needs and extract the maximum value of supplier relationships through best practice contract management and procurement activities. This includes providing technical support and advice to colleagues on purchasing goods and services for the Commission and Events and leading organisational change through a methodical procurement and contract management process.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences.

- An ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Expert negotiating skills.
- Previous experience in end-to-end procurement

What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
- Monitor and ensure that procurement activity undertaken is carried out in accordance with the Commission's policy and procedures, and the Government Procurement Rules
- Provide sound and evidence-based advice on procurement and contractual issues.
- Assist in preparing papers to support procurement activities, including providing expert assistance on tender, evaluation, and acquisition processes.
- Provide advice and support on contract management and regular contract performance monitoring.
- Support the negotiation and conclusion of national contracts in conjunction with the Manager Property and Procurement.
- Lead and support sourcing of reliable and quality suppliers, with competitive prices, and services that match the needs and objectives of the Commission.
- Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions and document any agreed changes.
- Maintain an organised database of records across every stage of the procurement and contract management process.
- Actively share knowledge and provide training and guidance to others on procurement and contract management activities.
- Assist with the ongoing development of procurement policies, processes and procedures.
- Support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement plans
- Contribute to the development and use of AoG procurement models and approaches.
- Keep up to date with thought-leading procurement and contract management systems and processes.

- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience.
- Solid understanding of best practice procurement and contract management processes within the Public Sector.
- Ability to influence action and behavioural change.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences including CE, DCE level to operational staff.
- Anticipates and resolves problems, making decisions based on sound risk management
