NZGP is a branch within The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). We have a vision for New Zealand’s government procurement to be fair, transparent, inclusive, and efficient. It will deliver more value and respond to changing government priorities.
While we live and breathe procurement, our branch is a support function to those doing the mahi in the procurement system - government agencies and the suppliers and providers they work with. We are less of a procurement shop than a shop filled with data, systems, communications, contract and project management people who love procurement. And yes, we have some procurement specialists
**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**: Reporting to the Manager Business Relationships these roles deliver the Strategic Supplier Relationship Management program to government agencies. This program aims to support the development of Strategic SRM capability in agencies through a tool kit of resources and training activities. The program also identifies and works with the most critical suppliers on a pan-government basis. The team is responsible for facilitating opportunities for collaboration with suppliers, markets, and agencies across the system.
The team will bring back the customer voice and ensure they are getting the best support available from NZGP. They will engage with suppliers and businesses wanting to engage with the government procurement system regularly, ensuring they are also well supported. They have a customer focus, ensuring a positive customer experience.
The purpose of this team is to employ strategic Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) to drive innovation and deliver added value from suppliers by taking a long-term strategic view of commercial relationships and the way in which NZGP and government agencies engage with the market. Working collaboratively, both roles tap into suppliers’ expertise and capabilities to maximise value for agencies from both a commercial perspective and in terms of broader strategic outcomes.
Opportunities like this are rare, offering the best commercial work right at the heart of government.
