**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are looking for a full-time HR Manager / Poutaki Pūmanawa Tangata to join us. You will work with a connected and large Advisory / Ranga Pūmanawa Tangata team who provide a professional partnership with academic faculties and service divisions to enable the University to deliver on its people and culture priorities.

As our newest HR Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving our HR strategies, ensuring seamless Employment Relations, Business Partnering, Change Management, and Senior Advisory support. In addition, you will have the opportunity to lead, and line manage a Senior HR Advisor, promoting their growth and development within our organisation.

In this role you will partner with a varied portfolio of central services, including Digital services, Finance, Property and Organisational Performance.

This is a diverse HR Generalist role, so here is a snapshot of some of your responsibilities:

- Oversee Employment Relations activities, providing guidance and expertise in handling complex employee issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, serving as a trusted Business Partner and aligning HR strategies with our overall business objectives.
- Provide senior-level advisory support for HR processes and best practices, ensuring compliance and optimising our HR frameworks.
- Line manage a Senior HR Advisor, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance their capabilities and performance.
- Lead and support organisational change initiatives, driving the implementation of effective change management strategies and minimising disruptions.
- Developing and implementing talent and succession planning strategies.
- Providing guidance on remuneration strategies and work with our renumeration team to help with benchmarking and parity checks.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**
Ideally, you will have proven experience as an HR Generalist, partnering with business units to provide strategic HR support aligned with organisational goals, and you will be comfortable handling employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance.

You’ll also be comfortable with being a hub of contact for operational matters whilst working through several strategic programmes with business leaders.

The key to your success will be your outstanding stakeholder management capability, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and your ability to thrive in a busy and dynamic environment while remaining calm under pressure.

- Possess a relevant HR, legal or related discipline qualification, ensuring a solid foundation for HR practices and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience as an HR Generalist, partnering with business units to provide strategic HR support.
- Proficiency in handling employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Some experience in managing and coaching employees, fostering their growth, and enhancing their performance.
- Experience working with multiple business units simultaneously, adapting to their HR needs and aligning HR strategies accordingly.
- Some experience in a matrixed organisation, collaborating with diverse stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
