About us

The Government Communications Security Bureau are looking for Compelled Access Operators to join our team We sit within the GCSB's Intelligence Directorate and are responsible for obtaining intelligence from network operators and service providers.

We are looking for individuals who can contribute to delivering, maintaining and enhancing these relationships to meet customer needs.

About the role

This role sits on the front end of intelligence collection and involves advising on and developing a range of exciting capabilities and technologies that support GCSB in its intelligence mission. Of the vacancies we have, we are keen to bring in a senior operator (Level 3) to provide technical expertise on all Compelled Access functions.

About you

**The people we are looking to fill this role will have**:
a willingness to learn
strong attention to detail
the ability to solve complex problems
a desire to develop an understanding of the technology underpinning modern telecommunications networks
the ability to adapt to an operational environment in which compliance and security are key

Teamwork is important, so you will enjoy working in a collaborative environment with a wide range of enthusiastic and smart people. Relationship management experience is a must as you will be regularly collaborating with network operators and service providers to achieve mission outcomes.

To be successful, particularly for our Level 3 vacancy, you will be able to accurately identify, analyse and solve difficult problems that are enabled through some combination of the following:
a tertiary qualification, preferably with a technical focus such as engineering, telecommunications or computer science, information or science technology, or equivalent learning through experience
experience working within the telecommunications industry or alternatively a good understanding of intelligence collection practises
experience managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
