Reporting to the Quality Systems Manager, the Industry Compliance Manager sits within the Quality Systems team who is responsible for delivery of global integrated quality management systems at Zespri. They key focus of this team is to implement existing global and customer standards to fit the Zespri business and then communicate and execute the quality standards for fruit, set by Zespri.
- The Industry Compliance Manager is responsible for:_
- Leading and managing all compliance related matters including current vetting, audit and inspection programmes to support industry compliance to all Industry Assurance Programme (IAP) requirements including identifying and managing any risks within these programmes.
- Management and resolution of non-compliances that occur across Zespri IAP’s, leading and supporting Industry Compliance team members through investigations and close out of issues.
- Participating in an Industry wide tactical and strategic review of the existing Contractor Assessment Verification (CAV) Programme to identify opportunities for improvement and lead the implementation of short, medium and long term solutions to reduce risk for the industry
- Key Accountabilities include:_
- Social Practice Programme - lead the Zespri Working Group providing input/feedback to the IAC CAV Review Working Group on the Programme Review and lead the implementation of any changes endorsed at IAC as an outcome of the review. Ensure risks in orchard and packhouse labour supply are identified, assessed & managed.
- Industry Compliance Standards - oversee the review, further development and implementation of standards and guidelines relating to Zespri’s social practice programme across Zespri global supply, including working closely with the ZGS Task Force.
- Inspector Program - own the development and implementation of the changes as a result of the IAC review and work in partnership with the Industry Assurance Programmes Manager to enable audit model improvements to be applied consistently across Grower/Contractor Programmes where possible.
- Management of Non-Compliance - ensure all complaints and non-compliances are fully investigated and resolved in a timely manner including identification of root cause and corrective actions implemented to prevent reoccurrences.
- Standard Operating Procedures - guide the Industry Compliance team to further develop and implement these procedures for the consistent identification of issues, investigations and management of complaints and non-compliances across all Quality systems programs.
- Management and Leadership - provide Industry Compliance team members with regular feedback and build a positive team culture in line with the Zespri values, maintaining strong relationships and connectivity across the Zespri network and with key stakeholders.
- Continuous improvement - contribute to process excellence and operational execution including ensuring best practice record keeping and documentation.

We are ideally looking for an individual who has solid team management experience and can coach and enable high performing, engaged teams. You will also have:

- GAP / Social Practice expertise and experience preferably at program management level
- Technical Expert in NZ Employment and Labour Compliance Legislation, preferably with supporting qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Computer literate - Intermediate Excel and Advanced Word
- Sound planning skills
- A tertiary qualification in Quality Management/Compliance, Employment Law, Social Sciences, Policy (or related discipline)
- Experience within the NZ Horticulture industry preferable Kiwifruit
