**Position Summary**:
Provide control systems and Instrument and Electrical (I&E) maintenance strategies, systems, and technical advice to allow the Maintenance Department to cost effectively achieve plant availability and reliability requirements.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Ensure I&E systems are properly designed, selected, and installed based on best practice and the life-cycle philosophy of an asset.
- Collaborate with Operations in troubleshooting problems from an I&E perspective and provide guidance and training as appropriate to promote proper operation and maintenance of control systems and I&E systems.
- Maintain and improve plant reliability through identifying and correcting operational reliability opportunities.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Reliability groups to identify and correct bad actors, drive root cause failure analysis, and implement preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Identify new technology and industry practices that can be implemented.
- Establish and monitor a program for critical equipment analysis and condition monitoring techniques.
- Review deficiencies noted during corrective maintenance activities to continually evaluate the effectiveness of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Consult with maintenance technicians on technical problems including advanced troubleshooting and equipment redesign.
- Assist with the development of the long-term maintenance strategy for the Methanex High Critical Assets.
- Facilitate investigation to determine root cause of failure for serious, major, and potentially major reliability incidents.
- Review engineering design packages to ensure all maintenance requirements are met.
- Provide input into the capital and major maintenance plan.
- Prepare and execute Plant Change Requests (PCRs) that follow Methanex’s Management of Change process (MOC) as required.
- Act as the Maintenance Department Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Control and I&E related PCRs.
- Identify part obsolescence, investigating and recommending alternatives to future proof operations moving forward.
- Act as a SME and facilitator for economic loss risk assessments.
- Manage plant vulnerabilities, including creation of action plans to mitigate or remove the risk and progress tracking.

**Position Qualifications**:

- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in reliability or maintenance would be advantageous
- Knowledge of reliability techniques and analysis
- Ability to conduct in-depth analysis and develop reports
- Experience with control, instrumentation, electrical, high voltage, and analytical systems
- Experience with Hazardous Area electrical installation
- Experience with SIL/SIS testing and strategy development
- Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance systems
- Experience with and the ability to conduct root cause analysis
- Ability to utilise software e.g. Excel, Word, CMMS Systems
- Experience with reliability analysis software (e.g. Reliasoft).
- Capacity to exercise sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Ability to work well under pressure, be flexible and adaptive
- Knowledge of relevant New Zealand legislation and best practice in reliability engineering
