**The Company**
Our client provides innovative and quality products and solutions to the Food and Beverage industry and other hygiene-sensitive environments. By partnering with global leading manufacturers, they offer a value-added, service approach to their customers, to support their hygiene, risk management and 5S continuous improvement challenges.
With an extensive nationwide distribution footprint, they are a recognised and valued supplier to their customers, predominantly in the food processing and manufacturing industries of New Zealand.
They are currently seeking to appoint a _National Sales & Operations Manager_, to take the overall responsibility of sales leadership (80%) and operational leadership (20%) of the New Zealand business. **Effectively a NZ Country Manager.**
The new manager will mentor and empower a small national based sales team, executing sales strategies to drive company growth, as well as focusing on providing a high level of service to their clients. They will also be responsible for the ongoing development of major accounts and key distributors, as well as contributing to targeted new business development.
As well as focusing on sales growth, the efficiency of the Wiri based warehouse and the customer service function, will also fall under their leadership.
This is a hands-on role, and we are seeking a high energy, focused leader, who will want to get amongst the action, take charge and impact results.
**Role Responsibilities**
- Provide leadership to a national, field-based sales team and take responsibility for their overall productivity and sales achievement.
- Lead the team to identify, plan, and implement short
- and long-term account growth strategies.
- Establish specific sales activities, including pipeline management and action planning as well as retention programmes for key accounts.
- Be a visible leader. Coach and mentor the team to grow as individuals, reduce any performance barriers, and provide any necessary training to improve overall performance.
- Ensure team maintains expected levels of activity & KPI accountability.
- Holds overall responsibility for key account and head office relationships, for both key end-user & distributor accounts.
- Identify new business and growth opportunities from existing and prospective customers and lead the team to achieve new business targets.
- Expand customers product portfolios, introducing new categories, aiming to increase spend and share of wallet.
- Performs own targeted new business development activities.
- Ensure the management of strong, commercial reseller relationships, ensuring effective customer training, product information and product presentations.
- Drive an on time, in full supply chain operation, ensuring the daily warehouse activities, including goods movement, workplace safety, quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, are operated effectively.
- Ensure customer service team is operating efficiently and has all the resources required.
- Implement best practice, fostering a culture of continuous operational improvement and teamwork.
- Prepare budgets, planning and management reporting.
- Become a valued member of the senior leadership team, adding value to the strategic growth of the company.
**About You**:
- Hands on leadership style. Strong motivator and mentor, with a natural ability to lead.
- Experience in managing salespeople across all facets of the sales process; including pipeline optimisation, up/cross selling, and retention.
- Results driven: Creates a positive culture of hard work, accountability, success, and reward.
- Ability to Identify and maximise opportunities that support the growth of the business.
- Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with own strategic sales activities.
- Ability to analyse and interpret sales metrics and track revenue.
- Capable user of MS Office suite and CRM champion
- Strong business planning and reporting capability.
- Must have min 5+ years Sales leadership with a good understanding of distribution operations and DIFOT.
**INDUSTRY BACKGROUND**: It is important to this business to attract someone who has.
- Experience in the Food Service, Food manufacturing, Food safety, PPE, Hygiene, Cleaning / Janitorial industries.
- Experience working with distributors, e.g., Snell Packaging, Office Max, NZ Safety Blackwood’s is also desirable.
- Quality and Food Safety experience, with an understanding of HACCP principles and other similar F&B audit standards; 5S / Lean / GMP principles is desirable.
