We currently have an opportunity on a fixed-term contract (**ending on 30/06/2025**) to take on a critical role with the organisation as the Climate Innovation Advisor - Māori.

In this role you will utilise your te ao Māori superpowers to support an equitable, climate resilient and low carbon Tāmaki Makaurau.

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

The successful applicant will work alongside the team to support delivery on the overall development of the hub and more specifically our new online space launched in July 2023, He Kete Mātauranga - a space that supports building resilience to climate change through Māori knowledge systems. You will also support the general business development of Climate Connect Aotearoa through projects and Māori programmes.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

- Support the Māori Outcomes component of the Climate Innovation Hub and contribute a te ao Māori view to the development of the hub overall
- Along with the Climate Innovation Lead Māori, support in identifying opportunities for Māori in the business planning and delivery of the hub and He Kete Mātauranga
- Support the delivery and development of workshops and events
- Contribute to the overall development and implementation of the hub and He Kete Mātauranga
- Support the business development component of the hub
- Support in the development of funding proposals and projects
- Support the engagement with Mana Whenua, Mataawaka, Māori businesses central and local government to achieve impact for Māori
- Socialise the objectives of Climate Connect Aotearoa to external stakeholders
- Working alongside the Climate Innovation Lead Māori, you will support in engaging across the climate innovation ecosystem with professional and ethical judgement to seek potential partnerships

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
An understanding of Mātauranga Māori, tikanga and the role of the Māori economy will see you in a pivotal position to support ensuring that opportunities for Māori are accessible and inclusive.

Your success in this role will see Māori businesses being strongly supported in the work programmes, where you will be leveraging your cultural capability and understanding of whānau, hapū, and iwi to support the hub to build strong partnerships with key Māori stakeholders.

Our successful applicant will come equipped with the following:

- A good understanding of Mana Whenua and Mātāwaka in Tāmaki Makaurau
- Proficiency in written and spoken te reo is desirable but not mandatory
- Some experience in by Māori, for Māori programmes and solutions
- An understanding of Māori culture, values, political and social systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to develop and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Self-motivated, organised and self-directing, with the ability to work within complex environments
- An understanding of the climate change environment is highly desirable
