**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**
Due to an internal promotion, we have a vacancy in our Otago District for a Risk Reduction Advisor. This role will undertake a range of work including regulatory compliance, education, and stakeholder engagement. We’re especially keen to talk with people who have relevant experience working within our built environment, for example firefighting operations, building compliance or fire protection.
This role covers a range of work including:
- The delivery of risk reduction, compliance, and enforcement work across both the natural and built environments.
- Providing advice and expertise on the management of risks relating to all fire types in both the built and natural environments, including the use of fire as a land management tool.
- Supporting the delivery of compliance activities, including fire permits and evacuation scheme approvals.
- The opportunity to take ownership of projects and workstreams within risk reduction activities.
- Working collaboratively with frontline operations members and the wider Community Risk Management team in the delivery of tools, programmes, events, and advice to communities.
- Please note this role requires occasional work during weekends or outside ‘normal’ business hours.
**Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - What you’ll bring to the role**
- Experience in researching, analysing information and risk management
- Comfortable working with information systems and tools (including GIS) to identify and utilise data sets and information resources
- Adept at building collaborative working relationships with and convey complex technical information to a wide range of people and organisations
- Able to establish credibility with key stakeholders and partners.
- Exceptional time management skills
- A current clean driver’s licence is essential
- A personal background and history suitable to clear security vetting and attend training, in order to be appointed as a Fire and Emergency Inspector.
