**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our Prevention team as a **Senior Portfolio Manager **within **BreastScreen Aotearoa - Prevention**. The key responsibility for this role is to provide advice to support, maintain and improve the delivery of high quality work programmes within the BreastScreen Aotearoa programme.
BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA) is Aotearoa New Zealand's free national breast screening programme for women aged between 45 and 69. The aim of the BSA programme is to reduce morbidity and mortality from breast cancer by the early identification and treatment of the disease. BSA is part of the National Screening Unit (NSU), which is the central agency responsible for providing operational and clinical leadership for organised national cancer, antenatal and newborn screening programmes. This role offers you the chance to gain exposure to these areas, as well as the wider Prevention Directorate including immunisation.

- Relevant tertiary qualification at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level e.g public policy, health
- Able to work closely and form relationships with screening providers nationally to support them in the delivery of services
- Effective in leading multiple workstreams with focus and drive whilst maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships
- Provide expert advice to improve the quality of delivery of our programmes whilst providing mentorship and support of the wider team
- Be open to new ideas and create a culture where individuals at all levels bring their ideas on how to ‘do it better' to the table
- Identify opportunities to collaborate across the wider Prevention Directorate to deliver cohesive service improvement aligned with our strategic direction
