Healthcare Assistant - Orthopaedic Clinic at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Wellington Hospital

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital or Kenepuru when required

Contract: Permanent Full time Monday to Friday 0800-1630

About the Role

We have a full-time role for our supportive Wellington Hospital Team. The HCA provides assistance to the health care team, by focusing on patients' comfort and performing delegated patient care duties, including assisting with safe mobilising and service activities as required. In addition, the HCA supports the team with other non-patient tasks as assigned.

You will be based in the Wellington Orthopaedic Clinic but may occasionally be required to cover our clinics in Kenepuru. This is a busy clinic that can see up to 100 patients per day, and we are looking for someone with passion and enthusiasm to support the nursing team.

  • Supporting nursing staff with patient care and comfort
  • Assisting nursing staff with patient flow (ensuring clinics flow)
  • Maintaining oversight of clinical supplies and restocking as needed
  • Maintaining a clean environment to a high standard
  • Maintaining oversight of equipment and supplies required by the nursing team
  • Other tasks as assigned by the nursing team

In the Orthopaedic Clinic, we are focused on Acute Fracture Management and assessment of Orthopaedic Conditions. We are a supportive team of dedicated Orthopaedic Nurses who work together for the best outcomes for their patients. We encourage a learning environment and welcome learning opportunities.

Your tasks include:

  • Restocking of equipment and materials needed for plastering
  • Supporting the running of clinics
  • Ensuring clinic rooms are freshly made up
  • Ensuring equipment is safe and able to be used
  • Working under the guidance and direction of Registered and Enrolled Nurses
  • Flexible multitasking and time management skills
  • Level 3 NZQA National Certificate in Community Support Services (or equivalent) or willing to work towards this
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare environment would be an advantage
