Support Workers for Tamariki and Young People

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting part-time staff/kaimahi to work with tamariki and young people in Te Puna Awhina service, particularly on weekends. Te Puna Awhina employs support workers to work across a range of services, including respite care, home-based support, and individualised residential care for tamariki and young people in Kirikiriroa/Hamilton. We require weekend staff/kaimahi to support tamariki and young people with their daily activities, including recreational activities, family connections, and community integration.

No two days are the same, and the role of a support worker changes daily due to the unique needs of the tamariki and young persons we support.

About You:

You will need to:

  • Be resilient, empathetic, patient, and confident in supporting and advocating for tamariki and young people.
  • Have an understanding of trauma and the ongoing impact of trauma on tamariki and young people.
  • Be comfortable and confident in your knowledge of tikanga Māori.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and motivate tamariki to reach their potential.
  • Be reliable, healthy, flexible, and passionate about supporting tamariki and young people.
  • Hold a full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
  • Be a New Zealand citizen or resident.
