Our Disability Support Services reflect our belief that all New Zealanders deserve to live fully, have equal opportunities, and achieve their ambitions.We are committed to enabling good lives for all, with a strong focus on self-determination, early intervention, and person-centred support.We are looking for a part time Support Worker in Hamilton, to provide support for Rangitahi and Tamariki and the family, fostering their self-determination and empowering them to lead a valued life on their own terms.The hours for this role will start at 5-10 per week with the opportunity to increase these hours over time.
What does a Support Worker do?
| He aha te mahi a te Kaimahi TautokoAs a support worker, your primary role is to facilitate the family's journey toward a valued life of their choosing.
You will actively engage with them in a hands-on capacity and collaborate closely with them.Your tasks will encompass a range of activities including grocery shopping, meal planning, preparation and cooking, laundry, light cleaning, and household support.
As a support worker, your goal is to provide assistance, so they are able to maintain their active participation in daily living, both at home and in the community.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:Invest in creating a supportive environment for the family, focusing on their aspirations and independence rather than waiting for a crisis to arise.Support tamariki or rangitahi to go to school or access education.Observe and respond to health concerns or support the overall health and wellbeing of the young personSupport rangitahi/young people to work towards and attain their goals and improve outcomes.Tailor supports to the family's unique needs and goals, adopting a holistic approach that encompasses all aspects of their life.Provide simple, flexible supports that the family can readily use to enhance their life.What do you get?
