AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.
AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

As AWS rapidly grows the business and team in ANZ, we are looking for a Country Manager to focus on the overall New Zealand market to build, shape and grow this business.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast growing and entrepreneurial organisation, bringing innovation and growing the adoption of cloud computing in New Zealand.
The AWS Country Manager for New Zealand will have the opportunity to influence and deliver on a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services (Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon RDS, etc.) across the Start-up, SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise communities in New Zealand.
You will serve as a market-focused and customer-obsessed senior manager, responsible for driving the overall organization of account managers, solution architects and partner development managers in New Zealand, while partnering effectively with the wider AWS teams in ANZ and APJ.
As the strategic arrowhead of the organization in New Zealand, this role will help to set an overall market roadmap and work with other AWS managers to develop opportunity pipelines in key industry verticals and in non-linear growth areas.
It will involve evangelizing cloud computing, driving growth and user adoption and driving engagement at the CEO/CIO/CTO level as well as with software developers and IT architects.
The Country Manager will also be responsible for working with the AWS public policy team to help shape emerging public policies around the use of cloud computing, and working with the AWS partner team to develop a robust partner ecosystem.
Key job responsibilities- Drive customer success through the adoption of AWS services
- End-to-end responsibility for building and spearheading the AWS commercial business in New Zealand
- Develop and execute a comprehensive short, medium and long term country plan for AWS in New Zealand
- Serve as a key member of the ANZ LT to define and execute a robust market growth strategy for ANZ
- Manage key strategic accounts and customer engagements by developing long-term strategic relationships with key accounts in New Zealand at the C-level
- Engage in PR, Marketing and other activities to represent the company in New Zealand

- Expand reach and results by evolving New Zealand segmentation and engagement model
- Broaden reach and accelerate growth through Partners
- Hire, develop and motivate a strong New Zealand team for scale and growth

Basic Qualifications- General management background coupled with extensive sales / business development experience. A minimum of 15 years of experience in IT sales with at least 5 years in management
- Ability to drive engagements and interact with C-Level executives, while also developing strong sales managers who can do the same
- Ideally a Technical background to enable smooth interaction with software developers and architects which is preferred
- Ability to think strategically and pragmatically about sales, business, product, and technical problems with the skills to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
- An understanding of start-ups, mid-market, small enterprise, large enterprise, channel partners, cloud
- Is a superb negotiator, at ease sitting down with top-level executives
- Exhibits excellent business judgment
- Thinks strategically, but stays on top of tactical execution
- Thinks big and has convictions
- Has the innate ability to inspire passion in others
- An understanding in any of the following areas: cloud computing, SOA, web services and enterprise software
