Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About these roles
We have multiple fixed term opportunities for experienced advisors.

Across our cohort of advisors, we will need to ensure we have the capability and capacity for:

  • Human centred design engagement, research and insights
  • Foresight development, planning, business casing and benefits management
  • Data, analysis and business intelligence development
  • Performance, capability and quality review and evaluation
These roles will all be fixed term to 30 June 2024

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Our Principal Advisors are expected to be able to do two main things:

  • Be experts in their field, working collaboratively on building regulated party insight profiles
  • Support across Regulatory Performance and Insights to manage peaks in workload
'Collective intelligence is created when people work together to mobilise a wider range of information, ideas and insights to better understand, prioritise and address an opportunity, risk or threat. It's based on the theory that groups of diverse people are collectively smarter than any single individual on their own. The premise is that intelligence is distributed and different people hold different pieces of information and different perspectives that, when combined, create a more complete picture of a problem and how to solve it. Our Principal Advisors will be key members of a project team working on building regulated party insight profiles. This will mean bringing hindsight, insights and foresights together through the collection of information, data and intelligence from our external environment, human and behavioural insights, output and impact measures, performance evaluations and review, regulatory risk profiles, and data analysis together to form a complete, collective intelligence profile. The ways of working of the team will be expected to encompass design thinking, lean startup and agile methods, and deliver immediate benefits.

They will need to work collaboratively with other advisors, across the Regulatory Performance and Insights (RPI) function and other teams across the organisation and be comfortable working under a matrix management structure.

Ko koe tēnei | About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience (at least 10 years) in your chosen field of expertise
  • Applied knowledge of building new ways of working including frameworks, tools and guidance
  • Facilitation, coaching and mentoring skills to support others to build their capability
  • Strong collaboration, engagement and relationship building skills
Experience working in regulation and/or in large and complex organisations would be an advantage.

You will need to demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
