The purpose of the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is to promote and protect health and disability services consumers' rights and to facilitate the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights.

The role of the Complaints Assessment Assistant is to help progress complaint files and draft legally sound, high quality correspondence to all parties.

te haere | What you'll need to be successful:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a sensitive, empathetic approach.
- Able to engage with complainants/ consumers on the phone, and in writing.
- Proven ability to identify and solve problems
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent organisational skills able to manage time, set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Methodical approach with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to use IT systems.
- Enthusiasm for working as part of a team empathic and supportive of colleagues.
- An understanding of, and interest in, the health and disability sector in New Zealand.
- An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the aims and aspirations of Māori.
- Right to work in New Zealand
