  • We believe Aroha is vital
  • We respect the Mana of people
  • We are Tika and Pono
  • We value Whakapapa
  • We recognise that Oranga is a journey
We are committed to ensuring that New Zealand is the best place in the world to be a child.

We are also committed to ensuring Oranga Tamariki partners with hapū, iwi and Māori organisations to find appropriate solutions for tamariki in need.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Through your support of the Governance Manager, you will assist in providing advice to the Chief Executive and the Oranga Tamariki Leadership Team on governance matters, as well as managing processes to ensure an effective and efficient governance system.

A key part of this role is to contribute to an efficient and effective secretariat function to governance committees and boards.

You will work closely with Chairs and committee members to provide strategic and operational governance advice, as well as giving support and guidance to the organisation to ensure our committees are getting high quality information for decision making.

You will work alongside an exceptional, supportive and knowledgeable team with opportunities for learning and development, and a new governance system will provide you with the opportunity to influence and establish best practice governance processes and protocols.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

  • To succeed in this role your experience will include:
  • Working in the public sector, ideally with an understanding of organisational governance
  • Some experience providing secretariat services and advice to committees, boards, project teams and other similar groups
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion.
  • Highly organised, with the ability manage multiple items while maintaining high level of attention to detail.
  • Understanding and appreciation of crosscultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you

At Oranga Tamariki we want to empower our people with flexible working arrangements to be their best at both work and home, and ultimately better meet the needs of our tamariki.

That is why we are embracing flexible working by default.

Our approach is that all roles are treated as flexible unless there is a good business reason not to be and working flexibly does not undermine career progression or opportunities.
