We have an exciting opportunity for a senior policy professional to join our Corporate Governance and Intellectual Property Policy team. This team sits within the Small Business, Commerce and Consumer Policy (SBCCP) branch of the Building Resources and Markets business group.
MBIE’s SBCCP branch is the Government’s lead advisor on the commercial environment in which all New Zealand businesses and consumers operate. We look after the laws and institutions that underpin how businesses and consumers interact with each other including: competition, fair trading and consumer guarantees, financial conduct, corporate governance, intellectual property, and small business.
The Corporate Governance and Intellectual Property Policy team is responsible for the corporate governance regulatory system, which governs the ‘lifecycle’ of companies and other entities. We also advise the Government on intellectual property policy matters including trademarks, geographical indications and copyright.
We are looking for a Senior Advisor who is interested in one or both of our areas of work. Some of the team work across both areas, while others specialise in one.
We have a great culture and team that work collaboratively to get things done. We put a lot of focus on talking to our stakeholders, and our operational colleagues.

- Have a good base of experience in public policy or transferrable skills from an advisory, legal or similar role
