He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission is an independent Crown entity that drives climate action in Aotearoa New Zealand. We provide independent, impartial advice to the Government on both mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, and we monitor and review the Government's progress towards its emissions reduction and adaptation goals.
Since establishing in December 2019, we have released advice on the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme, agricultural emissions pricing, the foundational Inaia tonu nei: a low emissions future, which included advice on the country's first three emissions budgets and the first emissions reduction plan.

Te Tūranga | The role
Two permanent Senior Advisor Government Services roles have been established due to organisational change and growth. These roles will work closely with the team manager and Principal Advisor, Planning and Performance Reporting. The purpose of these roles is to provide high quality advice and support to the Commission's Government Services and Performance Reporting function.
This is an opportunity to follow our processes for managing responses to Official Information Act and Privacy Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, select committee information requests which includes responses to Annual Review and Estimates, and for facilitating the proactive release of appropriate information. You will also support the development and delivery of training and education materials for Commission staff.

He kōrero mōu | About you
- Experience with preparing responses to complex requests under the Official Information Act and the Privacy Act.
- A strong understanding of the machinery of government and parliamentary processes.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
- Strong relationship skills
- The ability to work as part of a team and also autonomously
- An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi /Treaty of Waitangi, te ao Māori and ideally have experience engaging with Iwi and Māori.
