Support the delivery of key projects at the regional and national level to ensure optimal transport solutions Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity This role is regionally focused and is part of our national System Design team, with strong linkages into the broader Waka Kotahi organisation.

In System Design we work with our partners and stakeholders to ensure Waka Kotahi does its bit to plan, design and deliver great outcomes for our communities.

You will be an integrator, as you work across Waka Kotahi, local Government and central Government in a partnership role, to ensure alignment with national transport policy, providing integrated transport planning guidance, and working towards a shared a long-term vision of the transport system that will deliver on wider transport outcomes, things such as Mode Shift - providing people with safe and sustainable transport choices, and climate emissions reduction and adaptation solutions enabling economic prosperity in the community.

You'll be flexible as your mahi involves solving problems, seeking creative solutions, and tackling challenges holistically, whilst considering inter-dependencies and trade-offs, ultimately leading to the right interventions in the right place at the right time.

Ko koe tēnei | About you Relationships are at the heart of this work, both internally and externally. Success means navigating political environments and the competing demands on our transport system partners. The ability to disseminate lots of information clearly and simply and communicate appropriately is a must.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in Transport Planning or broader transport system design is preferable
  • Proven experience working with external and internal parties and managing relationships
  • Proven experience communicating complex concepts simply
  • Strong analytical thinking skills
  • Indepth understanding of central and local government systems and cycles
  • Proven influencing and collaboration skills internally and externally across other organisations
  • Tertiary qualifications level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
