The Advisor Heath Emergency Management position is responsible for supporting Te Whatu Ora Emergency Management Team across the four 'R's of Emergency Management (Reduction, Readiness, Response and Recovery) and facilitating the achievement of our obligations and responsibilities for emergency management by supporting the Health Emergency Management Systems

This includes:

the development of a comprehensive information management system which ensures access to a wide a range of open source and bespoke health intelligence and surveillance data.

This information will support a coordinated response across Te Whatu Ora and system partners such as Te Aka Whai Ora and Whaikaha.

This role reports to the Manager Engagement and will be responsible for undertaking the coordination, development and implementation of Te Whatu Ora's Emergency Management policy, plans and procedures.

The Advisor Heath Emergency Management has an operational role in response to emergencies.

Helping to manage and support disaster and emergency response operations through the tracking of resources and supporting the flow of information during a crisis, primarily by providing the platform for an incident management team to assess, plan, report and maintain the reaction to regional, national, or international crisis.

Essentially, the primary focus of this role will be to ensure consistency and readiness of the system nationally, regionally and locally i.e., supporting systems that enable organizational understanding and allocation of resources i.e.

medical staff, medication, medical gas, and supports tasks such as evacuations, setting up coordination centres etc.

You will:

- have strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and will be able to build a picture of what the impacts are for the health system
- be intuitive by nature to ensure an understanding of how the various regions are responding and faring and, where necessary, and able to make definitive decisions under pressure
- be adept using your problem-solving ability by considering a range of tailored outputs, to ensure that you respond appropriately to the adverse effects of emergencies
- have strong coordination and facilitation skills to maintain the good operational relationships with partner agenciesbe focused on diversity and inclusion; ensuring equitable outcomes for all communities affected by disaster
- have good presentations skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels
