At Manatū Hauora we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.

The Māori Crown Relations group and the Māori Crown Engagement team support Te Pou Hauora Māori | The Māori Health Directorate to be the principal policy advisor to government for Māori health matters.

Te Pou Hauora Māori leads the Ministry's kaitiaki | stewardship role to ensure the Ministry is meeting its obligations to Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori health equity in the context of the health system's performance for Māori.

Ko tōu ake mahi |What You'll Do

We are currently recruiting for a Coordinator Māori Crown Engagement within our Te Pou Hauora Māori | The Māori Health Directorate.

In this role, you will work across key projects working closely also with the Kaupapa Inquiries team. You will provide effective and efficient coordination, actively collaborate and engage with colleagues both internally and externally.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu | What You'll Bring

  • A strong commitment to improving Māori health outcomes, reducing inequities and advancing Māori Crown relations
  • Proven ability to provide strong coordination support across programmes of work
  • Excellent prioritisation skills, ability to use initiative, work under pressure and meet deadlines in an ambiguous and dynamic environment and desire to learn in new environments
  • Strong relationship management skills able to establish, build and maintain respectful, effective working relationships with all stakeholders to accomplish goals
  • Strong and effective communication skills
  • Ability to operate in te ao Māori contexts, including a basic understanding of tikanga, kawa and te reo Māori
  • A basic understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Crown's obligations for Māori health and wellbeing
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent project coordination experience and qualification.
