The NZSO is Aotearoa/New Zealand's national orchestra, an autonomous Crown entity recognised as an outstanding orchestra of international stature.

It performs 60 concerts each year in more than 20 different communities across New Zealand, as well as providing multiple opportunities for people of all ages to learn and engage with the orchestra.

The ideal candidate for Chief Executive will be a senior leader in the classical music sector.

They will have proven experience in leading and unifying an organisation successfully through change with a strong focus on building organisational culture, driving organisational, artistic and audience growth.

Purpose of the Role

Working in close collaboration with the Board, senior leadership team, the musicians and stakeholders, the Chief Executive provides vision and leadership to deliver NZSO's long term aspirations, balancing artistic achievement with financial performance.

Scope of the Role
The position is a full-time role based in Wellington with considerable travel involved.

The Chief Executive has responsibility for leading and enabling the organisation in the delivery of NZSO's Statement of Intent and Statement of Performance Expectations.
