Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Join the Commissioning Senior Leadership team at a time of key change as Deputy National Director, Commissioning & System Design.

Your mahi will help transform the way we commission health services across the key life span areas of Starting Well, Living Well, Mentally Well and Ageing Well - work that will touch every person in Aotearoa.

Your team will contribute meaningfully to the Pae Ora reforms, as you support teams of experts from across the system, communities and the sector whose Kaupapa is the design of health systems.

You will sit within a nationally based function, working closely with regional commissioning colleagues,with a focus on ensuring nationally consistent models of care and equity outcomes.

The scope of your role will include responsibility for the strategic management of the localities roll out to place-based planning.

This will see you work with Manatū Hauora, Te Aka Whai Ora and Regional Wayfinders to establish long term blueprints for the transformation of these systems of care through co-design with communities, colleagues and whānau.

Working closey with the National Director, Commissioning you will establish the new operating model for this group, including the structural considerations for the functions of this team.

Mōu | About you

The course of your career has seen you gain significant experience in health management leading system design & change management and you bring the tools necessary to co-design transformation with communities, whānau and your team.

You have significant senior commissioning expertise and experience, with clear evidence of driving change and delivering on service innovation. You are confident in putting robust whānau-led commissioning processes in place.
You are a servant leader, working to support your teams and help them navigate through complex issues. You are an open and clear communicator, able to negotiate, influence and unify.

Your listening skills and ability to express compelling ideas concisely enable you to respectfully challenge the status quo and continuously improve processes and outcomes.

You will have:

  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
  • A Tertiary qualification, and significant senior leadership experience
  • Ample evidence of your previous successes in establishing and nurturing relationships and teams
  • An understanding of the important role of clinical leadership
  • The ability to nuture high trust relationships and ensure effective engagement with the health sector, Māori, Iwi and the other diverse communities across Aotearoa
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of budget management
  • Strong writing skills, and the ability to adapt to your audience
  • Significant experience in community capacity building, and a strong history of working with diverse communities in Aotearoa
