The role Based in Wellington and at home in the New Zealand building product sector, we are looking for a Managing Director who will also be comfortable interfacing regularly with the wider international group, head officed in Germany.

The position will initially focus on the post-acquisition integration of the New Zealand business into the group.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Managing Director will create and implement the local business strategy, successfully developing business in the New Zealand market.

Leading a network of branches and contractors throughout the country, you will mentor and develop staff, driving a high performing business culture.

More specifically, you will be responsible for: Ensuring the profitable growth of the New Zealand business Developing, managing, coordinating and monitoring new business initiatives and future strategic and operational plans Developing and implementing market strategies Budget planning and control Overseeing and managing high level customer relationships Implementation and continuous improvement of key processes.

Your background Tertiary qualification in business/management Proven experience leading a business in a Managing Director (or equivalent) position Knowledge/experience of the New Zealand building supply industry Strong local connections Experience working within a global business, connecting through to HQ.

Your personal attributes Strong leader with a passion for mentoring and developing staff Commercially strategic, with the ability to develop and implement growth plans Ability to build strong rapport and trust with customers and a wider community of contractors Strong interpersonal and communication skills Collaborative team member focused on sharing ideas across the global business Out of the box thinker.

Reporting into a German head office you must be available for some afterhours meetings and occasional international travel.
