With normal hours of work falling between 8am and 5.30pm Monday-Friday, the Senior Examiner will provide support, training and calibration for the casual and part time examiners, working collaboratively to ensure the centre operates in accordance with the Nursing Council requirements.

Nurse Maude is a well-known and highly regarded organisation, who have been providing healthcare services to the community for over 120 years.

We have recently been contracted by the New Zealand Nursing Council to administer OSCEs (objective structured clinical examinations) as part of the registration process for internationally qualified nurses, to take place in a custom-built simulation and assessment centre on our premises in Merivale.

Te Mahi/About the Position

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Examiner Support: observing, assessing, supporting and moderating examiner performance in the OSCE setting, in real time and during individual and group debriefs.
  • Ensuring evidencebased assessment criteria scoring of IQNs match specific scoring criteria for each OSCE station.
  • Monitoring camera angles to ensure videos capture critical moments of the assessment scenarios in each station.
  • Supporting training and calibration sessions for the examiner team.
  • Contributing to the setup of simulation scenarios for each OSCE station before and on the day, ensuring adequate stock levels are in line with the OSCE station scenario.
  • Contributing to the training and feedback to simulated patients.
  • Proficiently utilising the electronic assessment software.
  • Supporting and guiding human patient simulators (Assessment Support Officers) in the simulation centre station.
  • Maintaining examination integrity of assessment processes at all times.
  • Stepping into the examiner role to ensure these skills are maintained to provide cover as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent).
  • A current New Zealand APC, without restrictions or notifications.
  • At least 5 years' experience working as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand.
  • Experience working with and supporting new graduate nurses.
  • Previous quality and staff coaching experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong report writing ability.
  • Strong IT skills, quick to learn.
  • The ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly.
  • Sound understanding of the role of regulation in health.
  • An open mind and positive outlook.
