We are looking for an experienced forward, thinking, influential Head of Assets and Infrastructure to lead an energised team to deliver fit-for-purpose workplaces and supporting assets to enable our people to do their best work for the Te Mana Rererangi Tūmatanui o Aotearoa I Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAA).


We're looking to appoint an experienced and influential leader to inspire change and champion our purpose with the drive manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga - care for people and place - within the CAA.

This role develops and maintains systematic processes for the development and support of operations, maintenance, upgrading, and disposal of assets in the most cost-effective manner (including all physical security assurance, costs, risks, and performance attributes).

Ko tāu e whakarato ai │ What you'll deliver

You'll have the capacity to understand our complex network and be responsible for the Authority's Property footprint along with asset management planning, supporting long-term, informed decisions for investment in, return on investment, and benefits realisation from all assets.

This will include managing and ownership of the delivery of effective programmes and projects across all aspects of asset and infrastructure development and de-activation.

  • Aligning our assets and team with CAA strategy
  • link team processes and initiatives to the achievement of our vision, goals, and objectives
  • Develop a clear strategic vision across several asset and infrastructure initiatives to support our Authority
  • Build a supportive functioning team and enabling workplaces across the CAA to allow our people to embrace autonomy, responsibility, and accountability
  • Ensure effective communication, education and promotion of the Asset and Infrastructure team, initiatives, and programs to internal and external stakeholders; actively participate in developing a workplace and property strategy.
  • Develop appropriate goals, metrics, and processes for measuring team and portfolio performance
Ko tāu e kawe mai ai | What you'll bring

  • A professional property qualification in the area such as Asset Management, Infrastructure Planning, Building Surveying, Engineering, Property or Project Management and/or experience in the asset management, facilities management, programme and project management, property management or construction industry.
  • Strong strategic and tactical abilities and thrive in a dynamic environment. With the ability to transition between handson and strategic, your solid technical abilities will include involvement in capital projects, and demonstrable experience in contractor and safety management.
  • Experience as a positional or thought leader in a Property or Construction environment or as a leader in one or more aspects of organisationallevel asset management
  • Knowledge of relevant related legislation such as, Public Works Act, Building Act, Health & Safety at work Act
  • Experience working in a large and complex organisation
  • Expertise in leading strategic, tactical and operational projects which deliver progress towards a core organisational goal.
