Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

The Strategy, Policy and Design team supports us to deliver the broad range of services Toitū Te Whenua is responsible for.

The team helps drive our overall strategic direction and delivers our policy work programme, including evidence and insights. They deliver Ministerial services, providing information to our customers and the public in simple, transparent ways. Customers are at the heart of what we do.

The team develops legislative and policy changes with the customer at the centre of design and help translate policy into operational practice.

As the Head of Strategy Policy and Design, you will develop and lead a customer centric, high performing and engaged team.

The span of issues and work is rewarding and gives people the chance to work together across a range of projects.

Our service design practice is new and evolving.

This role is a chance to shape our design and delivery approach to build innovation, achieve stronger outcomes and improve customer experience.

Reporting to our Kaihautū - Organisational Effectiveness, you will be a collaborative,senior leader working across our whole organisation, modelling our values and our commitment to te ao Māori.

An experienced public sector leader, you have led effective policy and strategy teams and understand the machinery of government.

Your broad experience and innate curiosity give you a genuine understanding of our political context, including our Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities.

You are creative and pragmatic, and balance strategy with delivery - you turn ideas into action, developing people along the way.

You come with credibility, operate with integrity and you are known for your collaborative approach. You take a system-wide view and see how things can be done differently, now and into the future. You're not afraid to challenge established thinking.
