Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do

Our Workforce Strategy and Policy team is looking for strategic thinkers and policy experts to support their work on the development of a health workforce strategy and other cross cutting workforce policy initiatives.

The health workforce is an integral part of the health system, no health service can be delivered, no person cared for, no health outcome achieved, without people.

People are our greatest asset and the enabler to improving the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders.

Manatū Hauora is developing a long-term health workforce strategy to guide system settings and ensure New Zealand has a sustainable, representative and responsive health workforce that can meet the future needs of people and whānau.

The long-term health workforce strategy will align with the New Zealand Health Strategy and support system shifts towards pae ora (healthy futures).

As a highly collaborative policy professional who can see the benefits of strong policy advice using data analysis and research to evidence advice, you bring with you a strong ability to take complex information and make it relevant across a range of audiences.

Your advice is understood by a range of audiences, breaking complex problems into achievable equitable solutions. You will take ownership and action on challenges, working collaboratively with others.

You are adding value to the team, to deliver high quality policy to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for New Zealanders.

At a Senior and Principal level, you will be able to demonstrate your comfort in taking the lead on policy projects whilst sharing your knowledge and mentoring analysts to grow their policy skills.

You are open to learning from others, seeking opportunities through your work to further grow both your written and analytical skillsets, whilst demonstrating core leadership skills when leading of pieces of work.
