Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity In this role you'll be working closely with the Manager, Insurance to deliver the key tasks associated with our Insurance Programme.

You'll be required to lead insurance risk conversations across the organisation and partner with the likes of Project & Portfolio Managers, making recommendations, providing advice, and educating on best practice.

As the Insurance Risk expert, you'll facilitate workshops and represent the groups interests when dealing with external stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, willing to learn and likes a varied and busy role to join our close knit and passionate insurance team.

Ko koe tēnei | About you To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in risk identification and Management
  • Insurance Experience? desirable but not necessary
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability working with a diverse range of stakeholders both internal and external
  • Experience presenting and facilitating workshops desirable but not necessary


You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori.

You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.

Ko wai mātou | About us Our Corporate Support Group provides key specialist corporate functions that are core to enabling Waka Kotahi to run efficiently and to achieve organisational excellence internally and for the land transport system.

The Insurance Team provides insurance support and advice on our physical works programme, our corporate insurance programme and helps to make insurance decisions.

We are responsible for a wide variety of insurance work including insurance placements, risk and modelling workshops, site visits to our large construction sites and presentations to the insurance market.

It is very small team that works hard but likes to have fun together.
