Fluid Recruitment is proud to be partnering with this South Island based consultancy as we search for a Senior Planner to join one of their Christchurch offices. Employing approximately 90 staff over seven locations across the South Island, they are a highly regarded multi-disciplinary consultancy founded well over 100 years ago.

The firm combines most aspects of land development under one roof and services a mixture of large and small clients across multiple districts and regions.

You will work on projects from conception until completion, collaborating with the experienced inhouse surveyors and engineers. The highly experienced principals of each sector not only provide a solid foundation for career development but also provide the capability to take on more challenging and complex projects that build on the team's skillset.

You will

  • Have extensive knowledge of resource management planning in New Zealand along with a planning and/or resource management degree
  • Have practical and all-round planning experience
  • Hold or be eligible for New Zealand Planning Institute membership
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the resource management planning sector
  • Have the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously on projects both locally and out of region
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills along with an ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders

The role

The role of a Senior Planner offers great potential for professional and leadership development. Your success in this position is dependent on exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues. You will be the main point of contact regarding planning in the Christchurch office.

  • Prepare and manage in resource consent applications and other planning processes and liaise with consultants, stakeholders regional and local authority representatives
  • Lead and work on local projects through to completion working alongside colleagues from different disciplines.
  • Work alongside other disciplines to produce high quality work for clients

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and overseeing every stage of resource consents
  • Project managing the different stages associated with planning projects
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Maintaining concise communication with other offices and the rest of the planning team.
  • Providing planning advice to clients
  • Providing clients with detailed updates and being proactive about potential issues
